Our Story

Busy Bees

Leroy has been fascinated with bees since childhood.

His passion led him to study biology and earn a Master’s degree in Biology, becoming an entomologist focused on bee health.

With abundant honey from his hives and a love of winemaking, Leroy began crafting mead using local fruit.

His wife, Bernita, soon joined him, sharing both the work and the dream.

In 2020, they found the perfect home along the South Thompson River.

After hosting popular “Mead Fests,” they transformed their garage into a working meadery, and Lion’s Head Meadery was born.

Named after the nearby Lion’s Head rock formation,

the meadery reflects their deep connection to the land, the river valley, and the bees that make it all possible.

When you visit Lion’s Head Meadery, you’ll find more than a tasting room.

You’ll taste small-batch meads made from local honey and fruit,

watch bees in our observation hive, and learn about sustainable beekeeping.

Because here, it truly is

All About the Bees.
